According to the dictionary the word resurrection means: 1. the act of rising from the dead. 2. The rising of Christ after His death and burial. 3. The rising of the dead on Judgment Day
Sunday, we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, the only begotten son of God!
For those of us that are Christians, we know that this means, Christ came in the flesh, lived and died and rose from the dead to redeem us back to God. He took our punishment and born our sins that we would have a right to the tree of life. He gave us eternal life! Our faith is based on this fact.
We started this celebration on last Sunday, Palm Sunday. That day represented Jesus’ ride into Jerusalem on a donkey, knowing that he would be put to death. Friday, we celebrate his death and we call it Good Friday! He took the sins of the WHOLE WORLD to that cross. Jesus satisfied God’s anger against mankind and its sinful nature. Sunday, Jesus triumphal rise! He defeated death and broke the power of sin off of mankind. Those of us who believe in Him will also rise to eternal life on the Day of Judgment. SHOUT!
I am not presenting this brief reason why we are celebrating this week-end to condemn anyone but to remind those that do not believe that there will be a judgment Day. All of us will have to answer for this life! The question of the day is where you will spend eternity?
New International Version (NIV)
15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”[
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
